It was the first time in decades that she´d seen his glow.

At the California foundry that fired a bust of Black Panther Party co-founder Huey Percy Newton, his widow supervised as a bronze caster put finishing touches on what is to become the first permanent public art piece honoring the party in the city of its founding.

How about a statue in the honor of police officer John Frey who Huey Newton murdered? How about statues honoring Kathleen Smith, Kathleen Smith and Betty Patter who Huey murdered?

Since the left seemed to be ok with destroying any statue they don’t like I guess they would be ok if someone destroyed this statue. ‘/s

Are they also going to erect a statue to Jim Jones, who was one of Huey Newton's pals?

In 1977, Jones journeyed to Cuba following a letter of introduction from Willie Brown asking Fidel Castro to treat the preacher’s trip as a state visit. There, he held a summit not with Castro but with an exiled Huey Newton, who fled from charges in the United States involving the murder of a teenage girl and the pistol whipping of an older tailor, both of whom made the same mistake: they called Huey “baby.”

In Cuba, Jones and Newton discussed “revolutionary suicide” and much else. Jones made certain to publicize the trip to his largely black congregation, which at times included Newton’s relatives.

Can’t wait for the statue to be defaced.
“They” deface what they want.
So let it be done to their ...heh...heroes.
And we can watch their shocked faces when they get the oft-used one finger reply.

I always get Huey Newton and Huey Lewis confused.

LOL, me too!

I clicked on this link expecting it to be about the musician.

Then I googled to see if there actually exists a statue of Huey Lewis. I couldn't find one and that's just wrong!

Make it a second amendment shrine. This article puts the Gun Control Act of 1968 in a context broader than JFK, Malcom X, RFK, and MLK. Huey Newton and Bobby Seale as founders of the modern pro-gun rights movement!

The Secret History of Guns

"It was May 2, 1967, and the Black Panthers’ invasion of the California statehouse launched the modern gun-rights movement."

On August 6, 1974, Kathleen Smith, a 17-year-old Oakland native working as a underage sex worker was shot she died three months later. According to the prosecutor handling the case, Newton shot Smith after a casual exchange on the street during which she referred to him as “Baby”, a childhood nickname he hated.

Where’s the Me Too movement?

Birds of a feather.... or megalomaniacs of the same ideology.
