The whole point I made in my post involved denouncing ostensibly conservative shrinking violets who think Trump is being mean or crass in fighting back against those who have slandered and unfairly criticized him and should somehow be above it all.
Are you asserting that I said that a political commentator who happens to be married to someone that Trump denigrates cannot or should not fight back?
The whole point of my post is about the act of fighting back and what kind of leeway should be granted to someone who is willing to use a flamethrower as a retaliatory weapon against a flamethrower.
I maintain that with Leftists, that kind of retaliatory combat is not only permissible, in the case of Leftists, it is required since they armor themselves against all other retaliation ranging from logical to moral. The only thing they understand, respond to, and expose themselves to is vituperation and genuine ridicule.
This guy you mentioned married into the McCain family. What does or doesn’t go on inside the McCain family is his business. He is a political commentator, and I expect he fully understood the dynamic when he married into it. It would be surprising if he wasn’t on-board with John McCain’s wholly underhanded, unprofessional, slanderous, and even traitorous assault on Trump via the dossier which he had a hand in disseminating. In conjunction with a foreign power, too, hence the label of treason.
If he doesn’t defend his wife when she is unjustly criticized, he is not only wrong and craven but is a cuckold to boot not to defend her if she deserves defending.
If he defends his wife because she is justly criticized (and I think she is) then he is wrong, and either defending her when she doesn’t deserve it, or an ideologic Never-Trumper or both.
If Trump fights back at some valid criticism towards him without having a leg to stand on, I am not going to back him or defend him. That is being a blind ideologue, ignorant, or both, just like McCain’s husband would be if he defended her.
Yes, that was exactly what I was stating. Trump’s statement wasn’t in defense of something recently stated or needing replied to. It was simply an attack. Ben is traditionally very defensive of Trump and his actions…..positive or negative. Now his wife has been attacked. Does he criticize or defend Trump?
