Thank for the interesting discussion and link. Obama's EPA sure ruined the diesel market in the USA with the VW debacle.
The turbocharged gasoline engine in my 2017 Cruze gets 37 MPG on average (6 speed manual), but you've really got to goose it for performance. I miss the low rpm torque and awesome mileage of my 1985 Jetta diesel.

To my surprise, Honda is still selling diesel small automobiles in India. If India, then my guess is Thailand and other Asian nations too, that don’t have electric grids etc for EVs
So poorish Asian nations get to score advanced Honda’s advanced diesel technology. While Euro-Weeenies got cut off! lols And they were never really sold here much in the USA
