Never had it growing, up though we were dirt poor. We very much lived on game, rabbits and deer especially. That included snagging the fresh roadkill, which had the advantage of being pre-grilled.
Yeah, but I always what I really mean is ever since I bothered to actually check the price. And that wasn’t until the ‘80s. I’ve always seen it as probably a low-cost alternative. But then when I actually priced it I went who the heck pays this much for this kind of meat? I certainly don’t. 😆
