“Not being the democrats” will not be enough. The adage still holds that you can’t beat something with nothing. And the GOP stands for nothing. Instead of cherry-picking selected midterm elections, it is more useful to recall the Gingrich-led turnaround when republicans ran on his “contract with America:” a list of specific, measurable proposals that he promised would be brought to a vote in Congress. It worked, and the GOP took the House for the first time in forty years.
You are right, the only reason many people vote for Republicans is because they are not Democrats (well, at least they say they aren’t).
I also agree that we need to demand that the people we vote for COMMIT to actively working for a specific agenda. We have to start voting on the basis of results instead of rhetoric.
