Most of us would like to remain in this world as long as possible but when we inevitably shuffle off this mortal coil, CNN's Chris Cillizza might be the last person you would want to write your obituary. Why? Because there is a strong chance you would be relegated almost to a sideshow in the remembrance.
Such was the case with Colin Powell, who passed away on Monday. He was a diplomat, a statesman, and a four-star general as well as the first African-American Secretary of State. However, in Cillizza's account on Monday, "The Colin Powell Republican no longer exists in the Republican Party," this was all shoved to the side in order for CNN Man to indulge in his obsession with Trump, Trump, and even more Trump.

Trump lives rent free inside the heads of so many of these losers.
Colin Powell kinda’ burned his Republican Bridge when he came out for Obama for President - even though his “buddy” was running as the Republican candidate.
Ever since then he was always trotted out as “The Republican Colin Powell” who never saw a Republican he could vote for or support.
Forty years from now....Trump will still exist in their minds.
Wasn’t Colin Powell the guy who used one of oldest military tricks in the books? In his case, he hated the Republican base (and most elected Republicans), but then announced that he was a Republican, and then went on to bash mainstream Republicans and the base non-stop (by saying things like: “The Republican Party is a bit rough around the edges”, since they weren’t into killing babies, for example). Also note that he NEVER had anything to say about the extremism or violence coming non-stop from the Left, never.
But there was one Republican who was nothing like that, a man with tremendous experience both military and in elective office, and always worked with his ‘friends across the aisle’, and that was Senator McCain. And when McCain ran for office against a man who was barely off the streets of Chicago, with less than 2 years of experience in national issues, Mr. Powell chose that Democrat over McCain.
Seems to me that he played us. I suspect he asked the Democrats where he would be most effective in bashing Republicans and he was told to do it from the inside.

That seems to be the most accurate assessment of the political career of Gen. Powell!
“ Seems to me that he played us.”
When it came down to it, he voted for the black guy. I wasn’t surprised at all.
May we please stop with the “first African American” Secretary Of State? His parents were Jamaican immigrants.
That is not a bad thing. The JFK democrat is dead as well.
“When it came down to it, he voted for the black guy. I wasn’t surprised at all.”
I think even he wanted people to think it was tribal, but I still think it was far more sinister, given his record of hating us.
