It goes to court and the defense attorney asks him on the stand- why did you go to a protest armed if you were there to perform the functional role of a medic? If you were there as a medic why did you chase an armed person while you had a gun in your hand? Why did you think that the armed person you were chasing while you had a gun in your hand would not perceive you as a threat to his life and take action against you?
Actually, more likely is the fact that he wasn’t deputized, nor were any of the other people there, and the case is just thrown out.
This is the best part of it.
