I’m of two minds regarding LEOs — there’s the Honest, and there’s the remainder.
The remainder is no better than the suspect. In other words, more than an equal response is justifiable.
The honest are harder and harder to find.

A LEO is similar to gun. It is neither “good” nor “bad”. To determine if it will be used for good or bad, you need to look at who is controlling it.
A gun in the hand of a good guy is a good thing.
A police officer enforcing good laws is a good thing.
A gun in the hand of a bad guy is a bad thing.
A police officer enforcing evil, corrupt laws is a bad thing.
