Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company may not be a household name, but with a market value of over $550 billion, it’s one of the world’s 10 most valuable companies. Now, it’s leveraging its considerable resources to bring the world’s most advanced chip manufacturing back to U.S. soil.
CNBC got an exclusive tour of the $12 billion fabrication plant, or fab, outside Phoenix, Arizona, where TSMC will start making 5-nanometer chips in 2024. The company says it will produce 20,000 wafers each month...

No worries about auto plants stateside not being able to get imported chips, either. Home values are skyrocketing here. The business climate is part of the reason.

And if China takes back Taiwan, does this plant become a commie organization within the US?
Other than that - it’s a great idea.

I am envious of our neighbors who use a combination of concrete (RV parking) and artificial turf to deal with that.
I find the lyrics of "Big Yellow Taxi" to be aspirational, "They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot".
Main problem for clean rooms and data centers here is the amount of cooling that is needed.

And if China takes back Taiwan, does this plant become a commie organization within the US? By then Trump will be back in office, then this plant is immediately seized.
