Just finished smoking cigars with two friends who own (separate) remodeling companies. They work alone now but before the pandemic they had quite a few employees. They cannot compete with the government (obviously they have to work for their money, not just print it up).
my lawn mowing guy used to come with 5 employees every week - the yard was done in 10 minutes.
now he comes alone. he looks like hell.
