Biden and all politicians (and federal judges!) who get voted into a federal office (Congress, Prez & VPrez) get the right to clearances by winning office. There is NO prior vetting process. The granting of clearances is an executive branch function. Do you really think the other two co-equal branches (legislative & judicial) of the federal government would allow that function to be solely at the discretion of the executive branch? Also whatever party\faction who had the executive branch could bar the other solely on political affiliation. What party would allow that? The whole process is supposed to be non-political. Example: Ron Dellums a card-carrying Communist was on the House Intel committee. There have been and are other examples.
“ The agency is now running pilot programs to test how social media information could be included, Lietzau said.”
We’ll sorely miss all you DOD folks here on FR.
There are still over 250,000 security clearances waiting approval, and they do this with the resources??
LOL - or given great jobs in the FBI and ‘intelligence’...
I held onto mine for just a few years after leaving the service. It came in handy to acquire 2 prominent contracts. When the company had no use for me I surrendered my clearances and left for another career field.
I suppose that’s better than being a self righteous prick.
The article: | The agency is now running pilot programs to test how social media information could be included, Lietzau said. One day, biometrics beyond standard fingerprint analysis could be used, as well. |
You: | Shouldn’t that have been the policy all along? |
Me: | You are all kinds of special. |
You: | I suppose that’s better than being a self righteous prick. |
Me: | Totalitarian prick says what? |
I love it when fascist pigs try to call someone a totalitarian 😂
Oh, gosh-sorry-I know all that...I made that point rhetorically.
The security clearance process sounds like a joke.
I never had to have one, but my dad did in his naval career.
They sent people to his hometown, interviewed people, etc.
I was talking to a friend of mine who is still working and involved in this process. He says that one of the motivations for this change at last in the minds of Rats is too few minorities make it through the clearance process. So they are going to lower the thresholds but increase the number of times the person is re-examined. The theory is you look more often you catch the problem sooner. He and I see a couple of problems with this “solution”. One they don’t have enough investigators (government & contractor) now to cover the current population under the current rules. This means a drastic increase in the number of investigators both government & contractor is necessary. This will result in the short run a dramatic drop in “investigation quality”. By the time “quality” improves many “risky” peple will already be embedded in the system. My friend hopes wiser heads prevail and the policy won’t be implemented. ( I think I read it has been! Our conversation was two months or so ago.). However and my firend agrees with this if the barrier now is lower it doesn’t matter how many times you re-investigate you’re still holding people to a much lower standard.
Look for major secutity scandals over the next 10 years !
In Patrick Byrne’s book “Deep Capture” where he, Sidney Powell, and Gen. Flynn bluff their way into the White House because President Trump was being insulated by White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. (In my opinion, Meadows was the root of many of Trump’s issues leading up to and after the election.)
Anyway, after the trio brilliantly bluffed their way into a meeting with Trump and convinced him to make Sidney Powell his Special Counsel, Meadows began to obstruct in direct contravention to Trump’s instructions to get her in place right away. I think Meadows said something like “Well, we’ll have to get her a security clearance, and that will take some time...” and Gen. Flynn jumped in and said “Mr. President, you can give a security clearance to whoever you want. Just say the word...” and Trump said “Do it.”
When a week went by (and a week was worth a year at that time) and nothing happened, one of the three (Powell, Flynn, or Byrne, I can’t remember which) called Meadows, and got a response like “Yeah...we’re working on it...don’t worry, these things take a little time...”
Yeah, right.
Point is, it was likely for reasons just like that the Left (and their allies on the right who didn’t want to see Trump in office) set up Flynn to take him out. Flynn wasn’t one to let that kind of BS just slide by. He jumped right in instead of waiting to talk to him later.
(I hope I recalled all that correctly, I read it a while back)
I fully get that this is bad policy.
It will be used as a political cudgel to blind opponents and restrict their access to data, and will be employed solely by Leftists and their statist allies.
THAT is a given.
Absurd, ‘ain’t it?
