If they haven’t produced or acquired a number of nukes by now, they were foolish not to so.

Yup...if they have them. A good demonstration bomb on some remote place in the sea by Taiwan might put the pause on some of the Mainland’s sabre rattling.
Even hinting at such with clever releases of plausible sounding documents might worry the mainland enough that they will stand down!
But I don’t think Taiwan has them. Too bad!
