The U.S. military is denying a Russian claim that an American destroyer was chased off from attempting to enter Russian waters in the Sea of Japan.
Russia's defense ministry said Friday that USS Chafee "approached the territorial waters of the Russian Federation and attempted to cross the state border," but turned back after being confronted by a Russian warship.,,,
The Chafee and the Russian destroyer, the Admiral Tributs, were within 65 yards of each other, both militaries said.
But U.S. Pacific Fleet said Friday, "The statement from the Russian Defense Ministry about the interaction between our two Navy ships is false."

and the truth is........?
Who to trust? Putin or ‘lesko brandon’?
Probably more russki bolshoit.
Yes, who to believe!
20 years ago I wouldn’t have believed a word Russia says. Today, I believe them more than I believe my own government.
That’s truly a sad state of affairs.
Last Wednesday I was at a coffee clutch of 20 local business owners. We meet monthly. This group is made up of all political factions. The subject of trusting Gvmnt info came up. It was clear that no one and I mean no one has any faith in the Gvmnt info about any subject.
I agree.
While Russia Today is a tool of the Russian government, I actually believe more on that network news than CNN or certainly MSNBC...
“It was clear that no one and I mean no one has any faith in the Gvmnt info about any subject.”
We have a simple problem in the United States. Left wing causes all have leaders and organizational capabilities far beyond what conservative causes have. (ie: TEA Party) We need conservative leaders of smaller groups to organize, get a leadership council and go to town on the left.
Biggest problem with this is, WE WORK FOR A LIVING!!!! so we do not have time for this.
And remember this; It was under Obama/Biden that the Iranian Navy apprehended a US patrol boat and its crew to our international humiliation.
The reporter on this article cannot even get his/her own subtitle correct. The ship in the picture, if it’s the Chafee, is not “at anchor” but is obviously tied to a dock.
Since this is an NBC News report, no surprise.
Sadly, I find myself wondering who’s telling the truth, the Russians or the Americans.
RT or CNN? Russian oligarchs or American oligarchs? It’s a toss up.
China and Russia picking up on democrats gig tell them what you wish the media has you covered.
On RT dot com you can find video of the encounter.
What concerns me is how rusty the US destroyer looks as it sails past the Russian destroyer. Is this normal, or is upkeep of our ships getting worse side by side with the crews getting more woke?
I think your right on the “woke” suggestion. I’ve spent at least a hundred hours hanging off the side of a Navy Destroyer painting. It was a long time ago but I remember it well and I remember it was no fun. Today, our woke Navy, with 16.0% women, probably hires a minority sub contractor to paint the side of the ships when it’s not on strike or on break or on maternity leave or not “triggered” by something.
We stopped almost all painting during deployments almost 10 years ago for "environmental" reasons. When I was in, we took pride in our spaces looking perfect. Brass was polished, bulkheads and decks were painted regularly, and there was never, ever running rust like that. If we were underway for very long, we would send guys over the side to paint before pulling into a port.
