I didn’t know this. Seattle has a statue of Vlad Lenin in the old hippie section of the city called Fremont. It was an artsy/fartsy section of the city. It also was home to 2 biker bars that catered to the outlaw gang MC riders. A crazy place in a super insane city.
Fremont is famous for the Summer Solstice Naked Bike Parade. The place reminds me of the line from an old Alvin Lee and the Ten Years After song I’d Love To Change The World-“ Everywhere is freaks and hairies dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity?“ I went to the parade ONCE back when I was as 28 or 29 years old. I’m 67 now, I actually found it boring and grotesque. Just because you can take your clothes off and parade around naked in public doesn’t mean most of us should…😲
The statue has been a constant source of debate in the area. Hell, it’s a topic of discussion all over the state. I live out on the coast west of Seattle and I’ve heard conversations about the statue here. The statue really fits the mentality of the political activists class and their elected puppets in Seattle today more than it ever has.
