The “the Day of the Lord” is the seven year tribulation period. (The time of Jacob’s woes. A time to bring Israel to receive her Messiah, Jesus Christ. But must first suffer greatly because of her present, continued rejection.) The Lord’s return is His physical return to Earth, to destroy the ac and those who seek to destroy Israel at the Battle of Armageddon. This is in reference to Matthew 24. The Gospel Jesus preached was to the lost sheep of Israel. To the Jews first. Jesus came unto His own and His own received Him not. He then turned to the Gentiles and chose Paul to deliver that message to the church, to provoke the Jews to jealousy (Romans chapter 11)
It is through Paul, that the message of Grace is delivered, as well as the rapture of the church. The rapture is separate from the Physical return of Jesus. (1st Thessalonians 4:13-18)
The rapture proceeds the “Day of the Lord” and upon the completion of the 7 year tribulation, Jesus returns physically to the Earth to set up His Kingdom. At the Rapture we meet Him in the air. At that time we receive our immortal bodies, incorruptible and Eternal. 1st Corrinthians 15:51-56.
