PUTIN ON A SHOW Russian warships fire missiles in massive show of strength as Putin sends chilling warning to Japan amid WW3 fears

RUSSIA has staged a military show of strength by firing missiles off its warships near Japan after Tokyo claimed sovereignty over the disputed Kuril Islands.

The Kuril archipelago was grabbed by Stalin at the end of the Second World War - but Japan refuses to accept Moscow’s jurisdiction....

...The latest show of strength follows a Japanese diplomatic protest in June, when Putin ordered drills involving 10,000 troops, 500 military vehicles and 12 warships on the Kuril islands of Iturup, Kunashir, as well as on Russia’s largest island Sakhalin.

Officially Japan and Russia have still not signed a peace treaty ending the Second World War ...

The next major war will see missiles take out almost every surface warship within days. With satellites there is nowhere for warships to hide and with missiles there is nowhere out of reach.

This is why I see a coming naval and air blockade of Taiwan. The ChiComs will then dare the USN to break the blockade, knowing that doing so will put our surface assets in easy land-based missile range of mainland China.

We are on the cusp of a major paradigm shift in sea power.

“The Prince of Wales and Repulse were the first capital ships actively defending themselves to be sunk solely by air power while steaming in the open sea.”

We dominated the seas with carriers for so long and had space almost all to ourselves that our potential adversaries have had to work long and hard to change the rules of the game and they have done it. We have way too many carriers and we should realign our entire strategy and start mothballing them and focus building to the new strategy. America will not win if it fights the last war.

With geniuses like Milley running the military, I see total disaster ahead.

Maybe so, but I have read of killer satellites taking out other satellites. It’s only reasonable in this high tech day and age for some super secret killer satellites to be out there.

This brings forth yet another problem. If satellites are not safe, then communications and GPS navigation/targeting is out the window.

Regardless of how the next world war plays out, it will certainly be interesting. I’m so happy I live in the middle of nowhere in a nothing state.

Who knows, maybe the flower children of the 60’s are right, in that man will destroy himself via nukes.

Right now, the Chinese could place a blockage on any piece of American Pacific real estate from Guam to Hawaii and nothing would be done in response by the demented chinaboy in the WH. These are truly heady days for America’s enemies.

I agree. He would probably agree to pull all military forces out of Japan and Guam, and maybe even Hawaii.

They already did, and they are already engaged in, and winning the war.

A Japanese pilot remembers Kunashiri and the Kurils:
“When I was authorized to have a few days’ leave in November, I called my wife to Kagoshima, fearing that it might be the last time I would see her. Cheerfully, I sent her and our 6-month-old baby to her native place, without informing her about the coming war. Now aircraft were being stowed aboard the carriers. One day before leaving Kyushu from Kunashiri Island, our last assembling point, a party was held in a restaurant in Kagoshima. Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo, commander in chief of the task force, exchanged cups of wine with each of the officers, shaking hands with them. ... Our six carriers left for the assembly point at Hitokappu Bay, each followed by a destroyer. ...” Destination, Pear Harbor.

The same could apply to the Chinese or Russians, if either would institute a Naval Blockade, instead of rushing a Carrier Strike Group to break the blockade we could certainly damage or destroy the blockade with our missiles from Guam, Japan, South Korea or some other location, unless me side is prepared to suffer casualties not seen since WW II, it’s a lose lose situation

Not to mention whatever anti-ship capabilities Taiwan has or we’ve sold them that makes a blockade by China a very dicey proposition

This is why I see a coming naval and air blockade of Taiwan.

A naval blockade of Taiwan will be a de facto blockade of 60% of the world’s shipping. Not happening.

He’ll just call Russia and China to let them know what are plans are. What could go wrong? Stay strong at home, but never forget!

Stalin also took a big chunk of Manchuria which belongs to the Chinese.

You don’t see the coward CCP trying to take it back from Russia though.

I see China losing a couple of very large dams should they try this. Blockades by definition are an act of war. Once missiles start flying, they are difficult to shoot down.

A lot of people on the outside have some basic idea of what a Naval Blockade would entail...

But we have no real understanding of things like attack submarines from the USA, Japan, etc that might be lurking in the area, we have no real understanding of the anti-ship capabilities and range or missiles on those submarines...

We don’t know the full extent of any real time satellite intelligence we have to detect any large ship or troop movements in the build up to a blockade or invasion...

Neither side has full knowledge of the cyber warfare capabilities each side possesses ...

My point is, it’s a mistake to say, China could blockade Taiwan and we could not respond, we don’t know what capabilities we have that have never been used making anything China does very risky for everyone...
