This reminds me of the Carter years.

Once inflation starts to get out of control, any unions that can strike will do so to try to stay ahead of inflation.

They don’t want to get stuck in a long term contract that sticks them with losses in real wages.

might as well do it now, while the ‘emergency surgicals’ only is still in place. That way they can be 4% richer and refreshed from protesting, when it is time for non-emergency procedures to resume - with a mile-long waiting list.

“We ask that our employees reject a call to walk away from the patients who need them.”

That’s sort of hilarious, considering that “healthcare” workers began walking away from patients 18 months ago. And now they’re trying to kill patients.

BYW, when we lived in SoCal for eight years we had Kaiser HMO, and were overall pleased with them. I know how they started life, and that there are philosophical issues, but they did well for us. When we moved, we seriously considered going to GA instead of TN because Kaiser is there.

Now we’re with the Covenant group (not an HMO), and it’s so much worse than Kaiser was!

Members of the United Steelworkers Local 7600, which also includes Kaiser Permanente employees in Southern California

Maybe they represent the urology department?
