Former President Donald Trump's hold on the Republican Party remains strong. That was evident at this weekend's rally in De Moines. Thousands of Trump supporters packed the Iowa State Fairgrounds. What was even more telling were the influential Republican politicians who were also there. Longtime Senator Chuck Grassley, who is running for an eighth term, appeared on stage with Trump.
(SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING)
DONALD TRUMP: I'm thrilled to announce tonight that Senator Chuck Grassley has my complete and total endorsement for reelection. Chuck.
(APPLAUSE)
CHUCK GRASSLEY: I was born at night but not last night.
(LAUGHTER)
GRASSLEY: So if I didn't accept the endorsement of a person that's got 91% of the Republican voters in Iowa, I wouldn't be too smart. I'm smart enough to accept that endorsement.

They've thrown 87 kitchen sinks at this man and he's still standing.
They have failed utterly in destroying this particular Republican.
After Jimmy Carter lost for real, no one would want to be seen in the same football stadium with him. There hasn’t been a one-term president since Grover Cleveland (who won a non-consecutive successive term) this popular with his base.
This is pretty much the dream scenario for the GOP. Trump off the ballot, out of power and GOTV for assistant Democrats.
I understand why he feels compelled to endorse incumbents, I wish he would stop it.
Re-electing Assistant Democrats will never Make America Great Again.
Grassley voted for the infrastructure Trojan horse bill.
I hate Grassley. I live in neighboring Nebraska so at times I hear him on the radio. F-ing antique needs to retire.
The the ng that pisses me off is he still endorces the establishment that stabbed him in the back! How hard could it be to beat this fossil?
Bump
McCain and Flimsey Grahamnesty, too.
And now also Micro “Amnestio” Rubio.
People who have made their career out of blocking the citizens from stopping the illegal alien inundation are not going to change their minds.
Grassley has been in elected office since (and I am not making this up) the Eisenhower administration. He has been in the US Senate for forty years. If he is the only viable candidate for senate in that state, turn off the lights because that’s it, the state is hopeless.
One of the things I believe more people should be doing when they evaluate political candidates is measure them by how willing they are to build up the future strength of the movement they represent. Apparently Grassley has trained up no capable replacement, nursed along no worthy understudy, and doesn’t have the interest or the capability to get off the merry-go-round when his ride is over. That should be a disqualifier in any party primary.
Basically all incumbents are going to win anyway. Trump is just jumping in front of the parade so he can claim he helped them win later.
Senator Grassley can disagree with Trump on some policies but he doesn’t need to be disagreeable. Even Trump’s attorneys Rudy said something to the effect that if you agree with him 70% of the time then elect him mayor, but if you agree 100% of the time you need to see a psychologist.
They welcome him with open arms and will immediately stab him in the back as soon as they can
Goes to show you that one of the biggest problems Republicans have is the power of the RNC and state GOPs o trolling who runs and when.
Primary out all incumbents, even the ones sucking up to Trump, you cannot trust them.
AB SO LUTELY……
Simple question every voter should ask all of them…….Here’s a list of your campaign promises, which, if any, have you kept?
After they squirm about this and that and working together, etc, tell them they’re not getting your vote.
And when you get….If you don’t vote for me the Democrat will win …. Shrug your shoulders and walk away.
Trump is not a Republican, and he’s a fool to keep engaging with enemies who will undermine him every chance they get.
