To develop it they also used their genetically engineered mice that have a human immune system to evaluate many different antibodies. He’s relying on artificially created antibodies rather than his own immune system because he’s quite sick.
He’s hospitalized with bilateral covid pneumonia and his improved O2 levels are because he’s on a nasal cannula. Although he’s claiming it’s not serious, he’s also an inpatient so it’s not mild either. The thrice vaccinated Governor of Texas also took EUA monoclonal antibodies the same day he tested positive (turns out he was tested daily).
In general, I don’t mind companies making money (his ‘enrich pharmaceutical’ companies line). If it helps him, I doubt he will mind that it cost 50 times more per unit than what he’s comparing it to, although of course it’s only given to high-risk infected patients. America is great in part because companies can make money.
