The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2021 to Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov for their efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace.

The Nobel Prize may have saved Sakharov's life. Killing a Nobel Prize winner draws a lot of attention.

That said, he and his associates (both living and dead) are not good guys in any real sense of the word. They support Chechen terrorists (the same folks who massacred the school children in Beslan).
