I would suggest that the crime problem, especially in the black community was and is a creation of the democrat party and their policies over the years. They have spent their whole lives holding the black community down. Their only use for them was at election time when they promised over and to be their Santa Claus only to forget all about it after the election.
The democrat party has warehoused the community, destroyed their education facilities and killed off more then can be counted by abortion. All to keep the democrats in power.
But the quacks are going to waste millions searching for imaginary ”root causes.” Whenever anyone uses this ridiculous term, you can bank on their being grossly incompetent.

Watched a video on Netflix and lost count of the bodies. I guess it was a gun violence comedy? They glorify it, but don’t add what destruction and pain comes afterwards to the families of those killed. BTW, Where do all the missed shots go? I would have to blame most of the killings occurring are based on the illegal drug business and clashes involving territory. That is an on going war, that can not be stopped with committees with candy ass solutions.
I don’t know if anyone else mentioned this, but I predict that the CDC is going to re-classify all these homicides as COVID deaths and propose a mask mandate for murderers and homicide victims.

Its their anti-police ideology/protests that directly led to changes in how police departments are funded and operate.
Portland Oregon is a prime example...the police there announced they are no longer stopping cars for minor infractions because it unfairly targets minorities, and six months later the city is scratching its head wondering why there’s so many drive by shootings.
