I see the problem as one of force. The left believes that they have the moral high ground and have the right to force others to live and believe the same way.
The right is still willing to let your believe what ever BS you want to ... as long as you dont force them to live and believe the same way.
This creates a difference that can not be reconciled, negotiated or accommodated UNLESS one side gives in.

...unless one side gives in ... or one side is wiped out. The c’est la vie, don’t tread on me believers are on the defensive here by nature. They need to recognize what is at stake and has to reconsider that the use of force is necessary to repel and survive with such a belief system. There is no expectation left in their quest to use force on others would adopt a “don’t tread on me” attitude to have their beliefs adopted by others with whom they live. They will only adopt such a belief system (temporarily) when they are being devastated.
