A high-profile anti-sleaze adviser is to be drafted in to the Met to help root out “predatory” rogue officers and overhaul the force’s culture, Cressida Dick has announced as she vowed to do “all I can” to improve women’s safety.
The Met Commissioner said the new recruit would be a prominent “external figure” who will work alongside her to challenge her and senior officers over the way they deal with “standards, corruption, sexual misconduct” and cases of “officers who have let the public down”.
She said a key aim was to “root out those who display predatory behaviour towards women or express inappropriate views among our ranks”, but that the task would also include carrying out a far wider review of “internal culture” and professional standards within the Met.
Monday’s announcement came as the Met continued to reel from the sentencing last week of former officer Wayne Couzens for the kidnap, rape and murder of Sarah Everard, and a series of further damning disclosures about missed opportunities and alleged misconduct by other officers.
In a further blow, another Met officer, Pc David Carrick, 46, who is part of the same Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command that Couzens served in, was appearing in court in St Albans on Monday, charged with raping a woman while off-duty in Hertfordshire.

Any current or former LEOs here? Should plain clothes officers be able to act alone? I believe their now going to act in pairs and are advising women to confirm their ID if stopped.

Sad that this has to be a valid question.
Speaking for myself experience has taught me not to trust the police. I no longer wave or say ‘Hi’ to police after having more than one question me about why I waved and one even exploded on me with a “WTF ARE YOU WAVING AT ME??”
And for too many people around the world and in the West encounters with police are rightfully regarded as life threatening events. You don’t know what’s going to set them off, you don’t know if you’ll be their target of the day, and minding your own business is not a safeguard anymore.
Too many videos online of police attacking law abiding people. Often without warning.
Too many cases of ‘civil asset forfeiture’ being used to justify highway robbery by armed government agents.
Seriously, anytime a cop asks you how much money you have you can expect to be robbed at gunpoint by a criminal who expects to get away with it.
The greater danger are the so-called ‘copsuckers’ that we often see here on FR who excuse all criminals acts by police and propagate a narrative that if the police did something to someone then the person ‘deserved it’.
Endorsing tyranny aimed at others sounds like fun until that tyranny is aimed at you. And it will be.
Rooting out bad cops is fine but better screening of new hires must happen. A serving officer would be fired for being a member of the KKK or a neo Nazi organization and a recruit would not be hired for the same reasons. For the same reasons, Muslims must not be police officers in western society based upon their core beliefs and world view.
How about all those muslim rape gangs?
