Trump says he would beat DeSantis in potential 2024 primary

Former President Trump in a new interview said he would beat Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) if the two Republicans faced each other in a 2024 primary, but noted that he does not believe the governor will run against him.

“If I faced him, I'd beat him like I would beat everyone else,” Trump said during an interview with Yahoo Finance Live, set to be released on Monday.

However, the former president said he does not think he will face DeSantis in 2024, adding that “I think most people would drop out, I think he would drop out.”

Trump’s comments come as speculation is swirling regarding who will lead the GOP ticket in 2024, when Republicans seek to take back the White House.

I’m not sure Trump would beat DeSantis.

I received a lot of heat for saying my biggest dislike of Trump is that he would be willing the kneecap DeSantis and wont vote for him again if he does (and as he’ll have to do to be the 2024 nominee). Well, looks like he’s starting.

Trump really ought to move off the idea running again and throw his weight behind DeSantis .

Trump should’ve wished him well. They’re basically on the same page. A lot can happen between now and 24. It would drive them nuts if it were DeSantis/Trump in 24.

I agree. Trump would trounce DeSantis or anyone else. DeSantis needs to hop on as VP. THAT’S a winning ticket and the 2 of them can fend off the massive voter and ballot fraud brought on by the dems and RINOS.

It would depend on his vax position. DeSantis has a proven record of freedom, I have yet to hear Trump call out the tyranny that is being thrust upon us.

I like De Santis, but I don’t trust him. He is a graduate of both Yale and Harvard.

By now we should have learned that people from there are good at talking big while still working for the establishment.

“No one will run against Trump except for a few no hopers...”

I agree, and I agree with Trump. He’ll certainly have my vote. I do like DeSantis, and if he had his history (now) before 2016 and ran that year, he would definitely have given Trump a run for his money (he’s certainly far better than Cruz!).

But now things are reversed, DeSantis is the relative unknown at the national level, while Trump is fully known. The ONLY way DeSantis might be able to beat Trump would be to get to the right of him on important issues. For example, he could say that EVERY Illegal admitted into this country during Junta rule will be DEPORTED, without exception. Something to show he understands the Great Replacement going on and will not permit it.

Didn’t Bush also go to Yale?

I really hope Trump doesn’t get tangled up with DeSantis. I would vote for DeSantis in a heartbeat. Need a 2 termer even though I love Trump. He needs to keep his peace with DeSantis.

Ditto, although I’d be happy with either one.

I agree. As far as I can tell, DeSantis is Trump without the mean tweets.

Do you trust Trump to have your back if you get arrested for protesting on his behalf?

I love Donald Trump but like many other things this is a forced error on his part. No need to bring this up now and make an enemy of an ally.

I don’t believe Trump will run in 2024. I think he is just taking the arrows to give people like DeSantis some break from corrupt media. As soon as a front runner emerges, the msm will portray them as the second coming of hitler. They’ve done it to every republican POTUS candidate since the 80s. I firmly believe Trump wants and will work for what is best for America.

Trump most likely would beat DeSantis. But I don’t see that problem coming up.
