It looks like Lt. Col. Scheller may be suffering from some kind of mental health crisis, as the Marine Corps apparently feared when he first started behaving in what appears to be a rather erratic way. His statements may be something a lot of people agree with, but that's typical for certain kinds of mental illnesses.
Lt. Col. Scheller's judgement and thinking process seem to be rather disordered and grandiose.


Many marines are extremely dualistic. Everything is black and white to them. Mentally, this guy just put something in another category than the rest of his chain of command. The result isn't pretty to watch.

Typically, if an officer in the U.S. military doesn't agree with the policies of his/her superiors the honorable thing to do is resign in protest. This guy went a different route and the result is high drama. A court martial is likely, although a military jury might do something unpredictable. Imagine this guy on the witness stand bellowing, "You want me on that wall! You need me on that wall!"

Imagine this guy on the witness stand bellowing, "You want me on that wall! You need me on that wall!"

Or, "The truth,you can't handle the truth"?
