This is an old article that shows what China planned. Happy to report that all is not well with the BRI. Nations have had their eyes opened and are pushing back.
That’s a really useful video. Most people aren’t paying attention to what China is really doing to establish its global influence. The Chinese do not traditionally expand power through war. They expand power through influence. I doubt they have any real plans to invade Taiwan. A shooting war with Taiwan would be incredibly costly. Instead, will just apply economic power using influence laid out in that video. It’s very clever really. But like you say, many countries in the region are catching on. China burned through a lot of goodwill with the COVID outbreak. It’s going to pay a real price for that. It already is.
It makes the BRI seem more benign than it is. Placing large chinese workforces, chinese shipping ports, and banking interests in other countries is all part of the plan. Heck even telling Disney what they can and can’t put into movies that will be shown in China is part of it.
