Let whomever is going to be selling the electric to these EV owners foot the bill for the installation. My guess is when it becomes profitable to do so, gas stations will be putting them in as an additional source of revenue.

Oh goody. Just what we need. More loading of the power grid. Some one mentioned that there are charging stations along I-80 between Elko and Reno NV. I don’t recall seeing them but I also wasn’t looking. And yup, the govt should not be using our tax dollars for that. Nearly all the casinos around here have charging stations at them. I don’t think tesla paid for them but....................

Tesla, and others, are doing fine installing chargers. No need for government spending.

Agree totally. If the government funds them, then we’ll end up with charging stations where they won’t be used. Just like that Alaska bridge to nowhere.

“…when has government ever built a gas station?”

Something I’ve been saying for a long time. Somethings that needs to be shouted from the rooftops.

It’s NOT a constitutional power of the federal government.

Tesla does actually pay to have their chargers installed at small business's. They give the charger to the business as a way to promote the vehicle use by providing more locations to charge and pay for the installation. I know as I've installed 6 at 2 different locations and Tesla paid me direct. (This was a couple of years ago and that policy might have changed.)

Now that said, I'm sure the tax credits they receive more than make up for their cost.

The governor didn’t and doesn’t build gas stations.

If electrical power stations aren’t economically viable to stand on their own, the system will eventually crash under its own weight and it is a waste of taxpayer money. If they *are* economically viable then it is likewise a waste of taxpayer money as we are paying for something private companies would invest in on their own - likely the same ones building the gas stations.

Wrong.

Wrong. Those who use electric charging stations for their electric cars should pay for them. Saying GM and Tesla should pay for them puts the cost on ALL GM buyers as well. Just as I pay for my gas for my Ford F-150, those of you with electric vehicles should have to pay to charge them. Simple as that.

Rechargers will be needed at highway exit restaurants, highway rest stops, motels, hotels, tourist attractions, shopping centers and places of work.

People are not going to want to stand around even a half an hour while their cars are getting recharged.

Businesses like McDonald’s and EconoLodge will put in the rechargers because the market will demand it and because money can be made off them.

Tesla already has an interstate highway network of rechargers and is working with the businesses in my first sentence to cooperatively put in rechargers.

Tesla has no problem selling its vehicles.

Young kids are brainwashed to think if we get all electric cars the world will be much cleaner. When I explain real world production of batteries and the energy to charge them, coupled with less capability in the vehicles, they are shocked.

It cost $600 to put in a home charging station ... if you want an EV, thats a small price to pay ...

Neither GM nor Tesla pay for anything. They just pass the costs on to their customers. And that goes for taxes, too. Corporations don’t pay taxes. They just pass those costs along in their products. Don’t be fooled. When politicians say they’re raising corporate taxes; they’re REALLY raising YOUR taxes.
