but if they’re bringing thru 500 at a time per day (article yesterday), wouldn’t that kind of chase the wildlife off? In the yesterday story there was mention of boats and that being the reason for the 500 number.
People generally just don’t cross the Gap, period. There might be the adventurous type with the skill sets. No roads or trails have ever been set up there.
I could imagine some freighter operation bringing Haitians into Turbo, Columbia. Then paying some guy to take you up the coast of Panama on another freighter, and dump you along the shore of Colon. Using buses (at least through Costa Rica and Panama), you could make that part of the trip in two days.
