Phoenix – Former Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon today issued the following statement about President Donald J. Trump’s endorsement in the Arizona gubernatorial race:
“I have a great deal of respect for President Trump and the hard work he’s done for our country, but I disagree with his decision today.
“The clear fact remains that Kari Lake isn’t a conservative or even a Republican, and she certainly isn’t the MAGA candidate in this race. She is a former registered Democrat who donated to Barack Obama and John Kerry, who refused to support Republicans, and who gushed over Dr. Fauci as he destroyed the president’s booming economy through perpetual lockdown, the severity of which she mocked. While conservatives worked to secure our borders, Lake supported weak, open-border liberals like Joe Biden. While conservatives called for stronger election integrity, Lake promoted the insecure practice of voting-by-phone because, at the end of the day, she simply does not get it.
“We’ve seen time and again that Lake can’t be trusted and isn’t being honest about who she is or what she’s done.
“She is a lifelong member of the liberal media who knows how to put on a show, and she will parrot whatever convenient political slogan is on the teleprompter in front of her to get ahead. She has smeared President Trump as ‘vulgar’ and ‘offensive’ and admitted in late 2016 that she was ‘not supporting’ him. There is no doubt in my mind that Lake would betray President Trump and Republicans writ large the moment things get tough, just like she has done so many times in the past.
“Over the course of this campaign, Lake will be revealed for exactly what she is: a fraud.
“I have a proven record of fighting for the Constitution, for conservative principles, and for the values that make America great, and I look forward to being elected as Arizona’s next governor and working with President Trump to continue putting our country first.”
No. He was a terrible candidate when he ran 20 years ago. Michelle Yee, unlike Salmon or Kari Lake, has won statewide as State Treasurer. She also carries the questionable baggage of neither, which also helps. The Stalinazi media will also go even more nuts with Arizona electing the first Asian female (and a Republican) Governor.
Yeah. Supporting the Romney…. That is a real tar baby.

Yup. Unless you can cite any particular negatives. Despite Trump’s endorsement of Lake, her out-and-out having been a strong Zero supporter is simply a no-go. Huge red flag.
I do not agree with your opinion of Lake and know nothing of Yee.
My comment on Lake is not an opinion, it’s her political history (though I don’t support Matt Salmon, his statement about Lake is not false). Michelle Yee is already holding statewide office as Treasurer, so is proven to be able to win statewide, and I’ve not heard anything negative about her.
It seems to be EVERY one. He is obviously rubber stamping any hack the same GOP handlers who destroyed MAGA put in front of him. Look at this POS he endorsed to unseat Liz Cheney. Hageman was Liz Cheney’s biggest fan until she wasn’t. Liz Cheney supporting RNC hack to run Liz Cheney out of town! This is as smart as his endorsements of Mitt Romney. Trump has zero credibility with his endorsements. Look at these last two and his cabinet. You could not f it up more if you tried.

Hageman resigned from her role as national committeewoman for Wyoming’s state Republican Party on September 7. Her resignation was seen as a step towards entering Wyoming’s House race.”
Salmon refused to fight then. He played nice. We are beyond nice.
Trump is still promoting the vax. Has he been following this whole experimental poison fiasco? Hades, he took this poison. What consequent organ damage has he sustained?
2022 and 2024 are not looking good..
Trump clearly endorsed Lake to take a shot at the RINO Aristocracy - favoring a "New MAGA" former Democrat over the establishment Republicans. Salmon might be a better governor in practice, and Yee a more effective symbolic gesture - but Lake quit TV over Leftist censorship and can become a very effective critic of the MSM and social media bias that cost Trump his office.
Trump is taking his betrayal by the RINOs personally. I expect he will continue to endorse candidates with minimal connection to the GOP power structure.
