That reminds me of an old MAD magazine piece from waaaay back.
It was about the Romans becoming softer and fatter and then one day lean and hungry barbarians stormed in and destroyed the Western Empire. The next panel of the piece showed a fat happy American weeble looking thing being charged by a Chinese soldier.
