Call me crazy, but I think public servants should first and foremost serve the public. That’s not to say they deserve fewer individual rights than others, but it is to say they should understand the trade-off between those rights and the rights of the public whose interests they were put in place to protect.

These people do not owe anyone their rights that are protected by the Constitution.

Unfortunately they don't suddenly have more either. Employers can basically fire you for any reason they want so long as doing so doesn't violate the law, anti-discrimination laws for example. That hasn't changed. I respect these people for having the courage of their convictions but this can't be a surprise to them.
Firing them solved the problem, too.
