It should be as simple as showing up and writing all the necessary tests an industry needs to show competence and, upon passing with a sufficient grade, give the applicant a job.

I agree. However, the Griggs vs. Duke Power case about 50 years ago made it extremely difficult to do this as the aptitude tests had a "disparate impact" on minorities. So now a college degree is used in place of such tests.

The US Post Office has aptitude tests to be hired. Are they somehow exempt?

All too true, but we are not even close to the hands down winner of that contest. China has, on purpose, killed off their women and left 30 million men in that situation. That is a demographic that is begging for a war, whether it be civil or foreign.
