As Blutarski would say in “Animal House”, “Yard sale!”

I’ve said this before, but the Taliban need money and probably need food more than weapons and military at this point, so, why don’t they set up an eBay-like auction site? I, as an American taxpayer, would like an opportunity to buy back some of the equipment our government bought and lost with my squandered money, especially at very reasonable prices. This might be a real win-win here. We have a constant ammunition shortage that this could help solve. I don’t have any use for guns and ammo myself but I’d like to get a third-gen night vision setup on the cheap to hook up to my astronomical telescope. Also, it would be pretty cool if I could get one of those militarized laptops. Those are really made well and built to last, but I’ll bet they will get bid up by the internet geeks.

I realize that shipping and delivery might be a “problem” with customs and so forth, but I have a solution for that also. Why not have our new South American friends deliver this equipment over the southern border? UPS and Amazon are overloaded with work as it is, and I’m sure that these new residents would like a few bucks in their pockets when they start their lives here as our neighbors. This would give them their first taste of good old capitalism and business. Even those who object to this great idea for some foolish reason would have to admit that it would be better than bringing fentanyl and who knows what other kinds of drugs with them.

Several things bother me:
1) We never stored munitions in warehouses, much less mixed with other materials - no bunkers?
2) in the past few years I’ve read that the Apache and Humvee were obsolete and were to be replaced
3) no way sensitive munitions would be left behind, they’d have been blown
4) was this seen as a way to dump obsolescent gear
5) a sop to the “industrial” part of the complex, time for fresh replacements
6) if none of the above is true this is beyond snafu, fubar, tarfu - time to replace everyone above fullbird.
