Elbridge Colby, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and Force Development, warned during an interview on Sunday night that China is likely to try to invade Taiwan and that the U.S. must be prepared to use military force to counter an attack.
“I actually think China’s most likely, if it really wants to solve the Taiwan issue, which I do think is really consequential for American’s interests in a concrete way, I think they’re likely to go for an invasion,” Colby told Steve Hilton on Fox News. “I mean, the basic thing is these shows of force that you’re showing, they’re not going to work to subordinate Taiwan. If China’s really serious about it, it’s going to go for a fait accompli, it’s going to move in, take it over, and then present us with just simply too difficult of a reality to reverse.”
Colby warned that China wants to dominate the world and that the key to them doing that is breaking apart nations in the region that would seek to block it from reaching those goals, including Japan, Taiwan, India, Vietnam, Australia and others.
“We should really make sure we have what I call denial defense, and we should basically stop doing almost everything else,” Colby said on what the U.S. should be focused on doing right now. “And that, at the end of the day, is basically about defeating that invasion that I talked about. Sink the fleet, shoot down the air armada, kill, capture, or wound the soldiers that land on Taiwan. If we can do that, it’s actually a pretty low standard, think Britain 1940. If we can do that, we may not win the war in the end, but it’ll be enough.”

How to do this is pretty simple, but it will annoy the entire arms control "profession."
Always glad to hear from a deputy assistant secretary.
What we must do is allow Taiwan to produce or unveil their own bomb. Balance of power, deterrence, counter balance to the NORKS, etc. The CCP risks, if nothing else, EMP catastrophe. They’d never chance an invasion. With Howdy Doody’s finger on the button guaranteeing Taiwan, why not?
Biden is taking us into WW3.
So with democracies like India on the line, does the US side with them or with corporate America (ie China)? My bet is on the latter.
Well, no, Biden will surrender before they fire a shot
Trust a Fed flunkie that has a last name as his first name? What has history taught us?
China is not able to successfully invade Taiwan, even if the US does not intervene.
Either this “expert” is deluded, or it’s in his financial interest to say they will.
“eventually”
China has a 3 year window to do this while Biden is in office. He will do nothing other than express faux displeasure. The message should be going out loud and clear to China that the US stops ALL trade with them if they move towards Taiwan, all Chinese national in our universities will be sent home, and no citizen or company can invest in China. All Chinese companies will be delisted on US exchanges. Much more effective to go through the short term pain of an economic cold war to destroy them economically than a military operation.
With China’s debt crisis exploding, I wouldn’t put it past them.
Outsourcing U.S. Drug Manufacturing to China was a Mistake ...

Exactly.
Biden: Uh, oh. Get me to my next vacation, fast.
Psaki: “The President after his Afghanistan victory and his budget infrastructure triumph is taking a well deserved vacation he has put off due to his hectic schedule. He is keeping aware of the battles and hourly war events by a transistor radio beside his beach chair at all times.”
10 percent of Taiwan for the big guy.
We will run out is missiles in 72 hours.
