It actually varies somewhat but many of them do make serious money. I think Illinois is another state where the state police make several times more than your average police officer or trooper in most other states.

Don't know were you're from but there's a great talk show host in Boston,Howie Carr (a huge Trump supporter),who loves to point out the routine corruption in Massachusetts government. He often talks about the salaries of State Troopers and the corruption in that department. That's were I get those figures.

They get a lot of overtime.

MA has a state law that any time there is road construction being done, no matter how small, they need a LEO officer on site. All the LEOs make a lot of overtime.
