At least my Royals remain the Royals.
I would rather Cleveland went the Washington route and simply call their team "Cleveland Baseball Club". But the difference is that Washington was forced to drop the Redskins while Cleveland is supporting the name change.

Just to be ear, ownership is supporting the name change. It isn’t popular among most fans of the team.

Our Kansas City Royals were named after a long running livestock show, called the American Royal. This was where the FFA was formed. And the Chiefs were named after a popular Kansas City mayor who was instrumental in getting the Dallas Texans to move here. He was called Chief (like Perry White).

One thing in your favor is they’re the truth, which is supposed to help.
Your city might consider “The Working Families” and “Proletariat” or maybe “The People’s Revolutionaries.” Just a thought.
