We just sold our ocean front home on the west coast of Fl. It’s not just flood insurance. Wind insurance is a killer, property taxes are high, homeowners insurance is outrageous, even auto insurance is burdensome.
Moved to Tennessee. Love it. Except that our governor isn’t quite as good as DeSantis, overall, much easier lifestyle and much easier on the bank account.
A guy I know bought a house on Clearwater Beach around 2005.
He bought a place across the street from the Gulf for $400K.
Even back then I could not believe how expensive it was just for the flood insurance, wind insurance, hazard insurance and even auto.
