Silencer regulations absolutely make no sense. Especially since you can have an air rifle with a silencer, without any red tape. And now there are .50 caliber air rifles. Oh, and you can also have a silenced black powder rifle, unregistered.

The only theory supporting the federal authority over the transfer of firearms, including silencers, is that the Constitution’s interstate commerce clause justifies it. In that case, if a firearm or silencer was made in a state, and stays in the state, then the federal government has no jurisdiction.
