It was what the People of Virginia wanted. The People of Virginia are working on placing a life size statute of Saint George on every street corner and at every school classroom and in every Government building in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Nathan Hale says, I give my life for this?

Nathan Hale says, I give my life for this? As do all the soldiers who died in WW II, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc.

Was it worth it?

At this point, I'd say NO.

Do the people looking at the Emancipation Monument have their official documentation papers stamped permitting them to visit the park, go to schools, churches, food establishments, hospitals, get on an airplane?

A friend of mine that works for the federal vaccine police wants to know. He is opening a new package of zip ties right now and the MRAP is running.

“But Coonman needed a sacrifice from someone else to expiate his guilt for his earlier behavior.”

You nailed it.

Coonman has been a wonderful tool for his masters. All they have to do is to look in a general direction and he knows exactly what he has to do.

Sure, but who is going to emancipate the negroes from the Democratic plantation?

Wired looking monument. The man seems to be asking who took his shirt and woman appears to handing paper menus from Chinese takeout. BTW who is the fat white woman in red dress?

This new “memorial” is nowhere near “the spot” where the Lee monument stood. GP SNAFU.

The new statues are on an island in the James River. (By the way, King James was a slaveholder.)

Why not erect a statue of a worthy, historical black who fought slavery? There are plenty of examples, but the left would rather make a political statement by using an abstraction.

*shrug* I like the new statue. The chains falling away, the hint of disbelief on the face.

What I don't like is the removal of Robert E. Lee.

Both are parts of our history.

And within 10 years, a Chinese megaton warhead will melt that down and everyone who ordered it.

I’ll bet the have 24 hour surveillance on it.

They'll end up burying the video of any vandalism since it will be done by anti-racist black Americans. It's already happened with George Floyd statues.

how could there possibly be emancipation if there’s no trace of a civil war? Maybe the statues are about northern slaves that ran south? /s

but now we know why REL came down on the quiet - the replacement sculptures, deliberately designed to keep racial tension going, were finished

I am never going downtown again, so I will never see it.....

Me neither. I don’t even enter the city limits unless they’re between me and where I need to go.

I did a fair amount of business there too.

Nothing wrong with allegorical figures...

Not a real person.

...one could argue that the decline of American began when we started putting dead presidents on our coins.

And perhaps conclude it will be complete when we put living politicians on our coins.

The last one had only been dead a couple months!
