Lithuania’s defence ministry recommended that consumers avoid buying Chinese mobile phones and advised people to throw away the ones they have now after a government report found the devices had built-in censorship capabilities.
Flagship phones sold in Europe by China’s smartphone giant Xiaomi Corp have a built-in ability to detect and censor terms such as “Free Tibet”, “Long live Taiwan independence” or “democracy movement”, Lithuania’s state-run cybersecurity body said on Tuesday (Sept 21).
The capability in Xiaomi’s Mi 10T 5G phone software had been turned off for the “European Union region”, but can be turned on remotely at any time, the defence ministry’s National Cyber Security Centre said in the report.

Just kidding :>)
What’s a good phone? My LG phone is a great phone, but I will probably have to replace it within three years, or so, and I don’t want an apple phone or a china made phone.
China has zero quality control.
Tainted heparin that killed people.
Melamine laced pet food that killed animals.
Cheap dangerous toys.
Crap drugs.
The list goes on…..,
I’ve had great serivce out of Samsung (Korea, I think) Galaxy phones. S10e and S21 currently.
I would never buy a Chinese phone, because all the spyware. I would never buy an Apple, because I’m convinced that they will eventually do a big data dump and hand over everything to the guvernment.
The reason why I don’t want a Samsung is because I think you pay a premium for the name. I like to buy a smaller manufactured phone because I think smaller companies give better value. My Windows phone was great. My Asus Zone phone wasn’t too bad for its price. My LG G8 Thinq made me willing to buy the G9, if LG had stayed in the phone business. I might consider a Nokia next time, if they are still selling Android phones when it is time to replace them.
Same could be said for most Chinese products for that matter, garbage.

So does Apple : )
I had a webhost based in Canada that was censoring my email. I used words like pedophile biden then the email would bounce back.
#3 I recently bought a Samsung S10 from Amazon for $249 as a replacement for my LG6+ which was selling for $89 there.
It use to be $800 for the S10 and I bought the LG6+ at $400 just 2 years ago (my most expensive phone purchase).
LG has stopped making phones.
The LG works fine but I wanted a backup. I like the S10 because the sound is louder and the text seems to be a bit sharper. The battery lasts a lot longer. The animation is good when changing apps and screens.
The S10 I have is a 2 year old model so I will not buy the latest greatest as the price will come down.
All I had to do was swap out the SIM card then used the T-Mobile app to transfer my contacts and files over.
