Democrats May Be on the Verge of Climate Disaster
Atlantic via MSN ^ | Sept. 20, 2010 | Robinson Meye

I’m starting to become concerned about President Joe Biden’s ability to pass a climate bill. They’re speaking sotto voce, but still: In the past few days, Democrats on the party’s left and right flanks have started to hint that, well, in some circumstances, given some contingencies, they might prefer no bill to a negotiated compromise with the rival flank.

The most worrying signs so far have come from Senator Joe Manchin, the West Virginia Democrat who has received more donations from the coal, gas, and oil industries in the current election cycle than any other senator. Manchin was never going to be an easy customer; in 2010, he shot a bullet through President Barack Obama’s cap-and-trade bill. Yet he seemed on board with the Clean Electricity Performance Program, the all-important (if fluidly named) Democratic proposal that would push utilities to generate more of their energy from zero-carbon sources every year. The CEPP would eliminate the greater part of 1 billion tons of climate pollution by itself and is essential to meeting the U.S. goal under the Paris Agreement.

Atlantic doesn’t do journalism - along with Slate, Vox, and others, they are full of leftist propagandists connected to the government/Dem machine.

" . . . the West Virginia Democrat who has received more donations from the coal, gas, and oil industries in the current election cycle than any other senator."

Of course, they won't tell us which industries are donating to the proponents of the Green New Deal.

Everyone know that no matter what AGW measures are passed, they will never be enough. I don’t like to think about what their end game really is. Their climate disaster scenarios sound bad, but not nearly as bad as exterminating 7 billion people and forcing the remainder into a pre-industrial lifestyle.

The disarray among the Democrats on “Climate Change Crisis” is kind of the mirror image of the “Border Crisis” which does not exist in their propaganda. However, they never miss a chance to bleat about the non existent “Climate Change Crisis”, despite the fact that none of the existential threats imagined by them have materialized.

They simply change their story and ignore the meteorological and climate science that does exist to fit their political agenda of power usurpation and one party autocracy. When you are standing on lies, your footing gets dicey, as there is no clear definition or evidence of the fraud you use to fearmonger endlessly.

“Looks like the Democrats are in another quandry over their Communism Now program.”

We shouldn’t call it “Communism Now,” it should be “Mao Now.” It rhymes and more closely reflects the party’s current doctrinal leanings.

Biden’s plunging poll numbers are blowing up all the Left’s dreams on Capitol Hill. Thanks be to God!

The whole thing is a true hoax. I’ve said for over 15 years that their goal was control of every aspect of human life.

ANYTHING human beings endeavor to do produces CO2, If you can convince people it is a bad thing and they enable you to control CO2 production, you can control everything, right down to how often people exercise, or how many kids they have.

It’s the biggest scam put on the human race in its entire history.

There is no evidence that industrial wind power is likely to have a significant impact on carbon emissions. The European experience is instructive.

Denmark, the world's most wind-intensive nation, with more than 6,000 turbines generating 19% of its electricity, has yet to close a single fossil-fuel plant.

It requires 50% more coal-generated electricity to cover wind power's unpredictability, and pollution and carbon dioxide emissions have risen (by 36% in 2006 alone).

Flemming Nissen, the head of development at West Danish generating company ELSAM (one of Denmark's largest energy utilities) tells us that "wind turbines do not reduce carbon dioxide emissions."

The German experience is no different. Der Spiegel reports that "Germany's CO2 emissions haven't been reduced by even a single gram," and additional coal-and gas-fired plants have been constructed to ensure reliable delivery.

Indeed, recent academic research shows that wind power may actually increase greenhouse gas emissions in some cases, depending on the carbon-intensity of back-up generation required because of its intermittent character.

On the negative side of the environmental ledger are adverse impacts of industrial wind turbines on birdlife and other forms of wildlife, farm animals, wetlands and viewsheds.

Suck it up Greenies.

Let me get this straight. Democrats can’t secure the border, balance a budget or solve homelessness, but if we give them enough money and power, they can fix the climate? Color me skeptical.

I said, years ago, that politicians have finally figured out how to tax everything, including the air that you breathe.

Taxing CO2, a trace gas necessary for life, is about money, but more importantly, it's about control.

Hell, they can even control how many times you fart.

YES! The Biden-Harris team has always been the major flaw in this Democrat/Oligarch putsch. They literally appointed a pair of political duds to run the country and lead their party. Not only do they have extremely bad judgement, they lack the charisma and even the basic speaking skills to convince the American people that they have things under control.

I don’t listen to anyone who doesn’t quote a reliable ‘source’, otherwise it is just gossip and probably untrue.

How does Biden control our carbon footprint without controlling our borders? Population growth is not good for climate change.

You bring up an important point. One reason the left can never actually fix a problem is that they are never honest enough to call a problem by its rightful name.

I remember thinking back in the 80’s when this first surfaced “They want to control fire. There is absolutely nothing you cannot regulate if you control the use of fire”. They had just come off of the freon/ozone hole thing. They got what they wanted there and decided to go for broke. And now, here we are.

You don’t hear much about the ozone hole these days.

I guess we filled it in.
