Back in the olden days when I was in the USAF, there was a three stripe, blue star "Senior Airman," and a three stripe, silver star "Sergeant." Both were E-4, but only the Sergeant was an NCO. E-5 was "Staff Sergeant."

Senior Airman vs. Sergeant, circa 1980:

Then the Air Force dropped the Sergeant rank, and put back the Silver Star on all ranks, and E-4 is now just Senior Airman. The first NCO rank is E-5 Staff Sergeant.

According to your chart, there will be a Space Force E-4 designated Specialist 4, and E-5 will be Sergeant, followed by E-6 Technical Sergeant. Staff Sergeant seems to have been eliminated by the Space Force.

In 1980, I put on Sergeant from Senior Airman. In other words, I got my white star.

I was then a white supremacist among all the airmen.
