I loved all those shows. When I came home from school my mother had on guys like David Frost, Dick Cavett, Buckley, etc.

That dust up with Gore Vidal, someone else I admired, is legendary.

Uncomfortable to watch because Buckley allowed himself to be baited by a master and lose his temper.

They were evenly matched, both brilliant...though of course I leaned toward Buckley’s views on most things...
