The Detroit Police Department caught one of its own officers in a stolen Dodge Challenger this past Sunday. The off-duty officer was riding passenger in the stolen car when the police attempted a traffic stop, according to Deadline Detroit. The stolen car tried to escape from police, and a brief pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended when the stolen car collided with another car.

After the collision, the officer escaped on foot but was arrested later, after police identified him using body camera footage. Again, the officer, who also happens to be a two-year veteran of the force, was one of two people in the stolen Dodge Challenger.

The other individual managed to evade the police and is currently at large, per the Detroit News. That report cites Assistant Police Chief David LeValley, whose statement was posted on the DPD’s FaceBook page.

If you're crazy, a career in a mental health profession is a good place to hide.

Similarly, if you're a thug...

LOL there are two main gangs out there, with many associated groups:

The gang with guns, and

The gang with guns and badges.

Yes, generalization etc etc etc, but at times closer to the truth than I am comfortable with.

Totally acceptable.... LE are always right and never wrong.

There really is a current need for an LE only prison. The only reason they get off is fear for their safety in a civilian prison.

No more “But it is a death sentence if he is convicted”. They will be plenty safe in their own special prison of just cops.

I am guessing he won’t be offered “Restorative Justice.”

The people who go into law enforcement are different from those who choose to become respiratory therapists.

No value judgement suggested. That's just the way it is.

"There really is a current need for an LE only prison."

Good luck finding correction officers.

I worked in a drug and alcohol program for first responders for a while. These folks have their pathology locked down.

At one time, Florida hired x-cons as prison guards!

They knew all the tricks!😁

If you are looking for a fun cop comedy/drama set in an alternate New York Sh*tty, try “Big Dogs” (on Amazon). Not politically correct. 8 episodes. They are members of the C.A.B. (Cops are Bastids?), driving yellow cabs around.

We meet 2 of the characters when they are wiring up the door handle in the back so they can zap info out of some handcuffed bad guys. They sample the drugs they confiscate. I thought it was hilarious.

BIG DOGS exists in an alternate reality of New York City. Businesses are shuttered, crime is rampant, black markets thrive. Drug are run via taxis and NYPD detectives use taxis for undercover teams trying to rein in the chaos.
