Report: Most nations fall far short in plans to curb warming

Nearly every nation is coming up short — most of them far short — in their efforts to fight climate change, and the world is unlikely to hold warming to the internationally agreed-upon limit, according to a new scientific report.

Only one nation — tiny The Gambia in Africa — is on track to cut emissions and undertake its share of actions to keep the world from exceeding the Paris agreement goal of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) of warming since pre-industrial times, the report said.

Only one industrialized nation — the United Kingdom — is even close to doing what it should to cut emissions of heat-trapping gases and finance clean energy for poorer nations, the Climate Action Tracker reported Wednesday.

Unlike its previous reports, which just looked at promises to cut carbon pollution and policy changes, the new ratings include money issues. Finance is critical to climate negotiations this fall in Scotland, so the report examined commitments by rich nations to help pay for clean energy for poor nations, said Hare, a climate scientist.

That hurt the United States and European Union rankings.

While the U.S. official emissions pledge is almost sufficient, the overall grade “reflects that Biden hasn’t got his policies in place,” said Hare. The report gave U.S. financial aid commitments the worst grade possible.

China, the highest carbon emitter, and third highest carbon polluter India are what the report calls “highly insufficient” or more in line with 4 degrees Celsius (7.2 degrees Fahrenheit) of warming since pre-industrial times.

The US is behind because we are not paying for the rest of the world.

That was the purpose of Paris, not to cut emissions.

It was global redistribution of wealth.

These climate change jackasses figuratively could get every one of their pipe dream global emission restrictions enacted and it would have the effect of spitting into the ocean. The sun, earth’s rotational effects leading to cyclical global wind and weather patterns are not subject to the activities of puny mankind.

Next up: Little ice age. “Climate change” not averted! Only tiny little The Gambia did its part to try to stop it!

… the Paris agreement goal of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) of warming since pre-industrial times …
The hidden premises are that the industrial revolution caused the present level of atmospheric CO2, which in turn cased the current warming period. The correlation between the rising temperature at the end of the Little Ice Age and the start of the Industrial Revolution, however, does not prove causation.

If instead the starting point for a trend were the height of the Roman Warming Period, we’d still have a a ways to go before putting the Green back in Greenland.

Bill Hare, is a 'Climate Scientist"...my A** (butt). He's listed as a physics 'graduate' of Murdoch University, Australia, and is now listed as an Adjunct Professor there. He was given an honorary PhD degree there but there is no indication from a web search that he got any other kind of post graduate degree, anywhere. Murdoch advertises " Apply to Murdoch using your previous study, work or life experience." That sounds a lot like a degree factory to me.

Talk to any good engineer.
Even if GW was really caused by people, unless you eradicate 50% of the population, there is really nothing you can do about it.
Anyone remember the “Ozone Hole”?
Did banning fluorocarbons make any difference?
Of course not.

They just stopped talking about the “Ozone Hole”.

Did stopping cutting trees save the Spotted Owl?
Of course not...it was never endangered.

“Report: Most nations fall far short in plans to curb warming”

Just turn the A/C up. That ought to cool things down.
