DER SPIEGEL: Taliban fighters can be seen driving through Kabul in pickup trucks, and they are posing with weapons in their hands in TV studios. Are you having a lot of déjà-vu experiences right now?

Soufan: That’s true, we went back full circle. After 20 years, the Taliban are again in control of Afghanistan. And we have to be aware that the withdrawal of the U.S. from Afghanistan and the way it happened is inspiring for people in the world. It is a massive victory for not only the global jihadist movement but also for all the militants who are operating against the U.S. And this will have consequences for the national security of the United States.

DER SPIEGEL: Because all these terrorist groups will now be able to regroup in Afghanistan unhindered?

Soufan: Not only. What happened is also inspiring for people who are not even Sunni extremists, groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon or the Houthis in Yemen and a lot of other anti-American groups in the Middle East. It could also provide a window of opportunity for al-Qaida to regroup. They now have their headquarters back, even though they have a lot of affiliates in different places around the Middle East. They have people in Somalia, Yemen and Syria. I think it's going to be very difficult to contain the jihadi threat in Afghanistan.

DER SPIEGEL: Isn’t the Afghan branch of the Islamic State (ISIS) far more dangerous by now?

Soufan: Well, I think ISIS Khorasan is a newcomer on the ground in Afghanistan. But yes, they are dangerous and ...

How would that have created a liberal democracy in Afghanistan and inspired peace and freedom throughout the middle east [what were Bush and Cheney smoking?]

I served with an officer (USN) who was “educated” at Yale. He told me he was headed to Yale from the moment he was born. And not just based on family tradition and schooling alone. Generations of relationships formed there with other families’ kids had served his family very well in networking, that is productive relationships that opened doors in finance, government etc.. Probably applies to lots of schools, but the Ivy League is preeminent in this regard.

I don’t know who this guy is.

Go read his book. He was an Arabic speaking interogator of captured terrorists and had little use of the brutal methods being pushed by the amateurs in the FBI and CIA in large measure because they were ineffective methods of getting the information and insights that we were supposed to be getting.

I would have preferred that they attrition themselves away through bad living.

Both the Community Organizer and Sen. Harris are foreigners, hiding behind the skirts of NBC Joseph Robinette Biden.

Just looked up robinet. It’s French for “faucet.” Learned something new.

I’ll take that under advisement.

I am disinclined to trust anything from the FBI for reasons known to all. Of all federal agencies, I view them as not only being among the most corrupt, but the most egregious and open violators of the trust placed in them by citizens.

It has been completely disillusioning for me and the damage they have done is among the most massive and irreparable.

We were getting ready to print books for the new improved CRT Afghan school curriculum. It was just too much too soon.

You have to take baby steps:

Jihadi: “Hey, give us back our dead goat!”

US Diplomat: “Okay okay, You can have your goat carcass back in a minute, but there’s something I need to talk to you about!”

Jihadi: “Hey, no fair! Right in the middle of the game!”

Diplomat: “The sooner you pipe down and listen up, the sooner you can go back to your game, alright?”

Jihadi: “Aww— okay, so... “

Diplomat: “Guys, there’s... concerns... okay, here’s the deal: You Got To Stop Buggering The KIDS !

Baby steps.

“Trying to impose a American and European government and miltary on different culture does not work.”

I think Lee Kwan Yew, the former Prime Minister of Singapore once said that Western Democracy does not work in Asia for the people in Asia value things different that the West, case in point A-Stan.

On the other hand, these perpetual enemies of civilization are the descendants of the nations God used to punish the Israelites and, later, the Jews. (Cf. the Northern Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom.)

I think He's still using them to punish Western Civilization. We celebrate and promote fags, murdering the unborn, etc.

Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America.

There is an escape for our madness, but America is too sophisticated to admit it.

Afghanistan is a tribal country

This seems to be a little remarked point about the hundreds of thousands of imported Afghanis the Joek is bringing into the US unvetted. Many of them are likely from tribes that fight each other - now instead of doing the fighting there they will be doing their fighting here ... and you thought the murder rate was through the roof and crime could not get much worse ...
