In CA, AZ, NM, South Texas; it is very common for marriages across the border. ? Yes, with Husband a citizen on one side, wife a citizen on other side of US/MX border. It is because of benefits of citizenship in both countries withinin the family. There are many abuses of benefits due to the laws.

Unless things have changed, in Mexico you must be a Mexican citizen to own property in MX.

In the US, we do not recognize dual citizenship, but in fact there are cases where it exists. It is my understanding that in MX dual citizenship is possible.

This has existed for a number of generations.

This is true, but all that means is the law doesn’t mention it at all. It is not expressly allowed, and not banned. This effectively means that dual citizenship is completely, 100% legal in the USA.

Thanks for posting this. You may have cleared up a long time mystery. 2 Decades ago many of our friends and we shared a great cleaning woman. A real Mexican/American, who spoke better English than most of us. She wanted to be paid by check and used the same CPA most of us used. She was supposedly a widow, and a BIL lived about 30 miles away. She, also owned a professional cleaning service which cleaned business offices in the evening and night and weekends.

Later, supposedly, her BIL was kidnapped in Mexico and held prisoner. His nice N. Cali home was sold to pay ransom and this woman and his kids supposedly shared the net profits to buy his freedom. The BIL never again showed up here. Most of us assumed he was killed or died in prison.

About a year later, this cleaning lady announced that she was retiring and moving to Mexico and even provided/recommended her replacement. She sold her professional cleaning service and introduced her replacement for our homes.

One of her clients, a son of another client couple was a detective in a city about 30 minutes away.

He did a little detecting and said her so called captive BIL was still alive and owned property in Mexico. Also, our former cleaning lady had married the so called BIL in Mexico, who was not in jail.

Her replacement would go from understanding us to no comprende, when we tried find out about our former cleaning lady.

After about 3 years, the replacement supposedly went to the San Fernando Valley area to work with a relative to plant, raise and harvest lettuces. Again, the detective could not find her anywhere. He felt that she also, had gone back to Mexico. Also, like her predecessor again, the replacement was introduced to us by the one who was leaving.

Most of us used the Pandemic to not use the latest replacement any more. It was getting a little spooky.
