My parents initially retired to Rockport. Built a third pig house - the big bad wolf couldn’t blow it down. When they firsted moved there I asked about their hurricane preps. My dad dassured me that they had pre-sized and drilled plywood for the windows. Fast forward to 2005 and Rita was forecast to come into the Texas coast just north of Rockport as a Cat 5. I called up the Ps and my mom said my dad was doing a crossword puzzle and he quit paying for the plywood hangers years ago.
Fortunately Rita veered away from them, but that was it for them for Rockport. They moved to Central Texas the next year and avoided Harvey.
After four hurricanes in 2004, no more plywood here. Tired of the dark, crack house motif. Invested in hurricane screens. They are wonderful, allow filtered light, easy to slide onto the tracks, and less expensive than moving.
