Trump endorsement could sway Governor's race in Georgia

The race for the Governor’s office under the gold dome could come down to one major endorsement ahead of the 2022 election.

Robert Cahaly is a pollster who founded The Trafalgar Group. His company surveyed more than a thousand people statewide and determined that the endorsement of from former President Donald Trump is monumental.

“He can move either one of them over the finish line,” Cahaly said.

According to the poll, a Trump endorsement would give Republican candidate and former Democrat Vernon Jones 55% of the vote. But if Trump endorses Governor Brian Kemp, the Incumbent would win the nomination with 58% of the vote.

“If Trump does not endorse, this is a referendum on Kemp, and I don’t know that I would bet on him surviving,” Cahaly said.

Without the former President’s endorsement, the poll shows Kemp would garner 47% of the vote, to Jones’ 24%. Sending the race to a runoff.

“For him to grab roughly 25-percent of the Republican electorate that fast that’s pretty impressive,” Cahaly said.

Jones is the only to respond to the survey saying, “The people of Georgia realized that Brian Kemp did not support President Trump before, during and after the election. Kemp refused to join Rep. Vernon jones in calling for a 159-county audit on behalf of election integrity.

GA Gov. Kemp Awarded $107 Million Contract to Dominion Two Weeks After Meeting With People’s Republic of China Consul General in the Houston China Consulate that Trump Closed for Spying.

Kemp met with Li Qiangmin, Houston Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, on July 12, 2019.

The Secretary of State’s office announced on July 29, 2019 that Dominion’s election services were procured to implement a “verified paper ballot system” in the state prior to the March 2020 presidential primaries.

According to reports, the voting software company has multiple links to China, including a $400 million filing in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) one month before the election that links Dominion, UBS Securities LLC, and China.

While Vernon has been saying lots of good things lately the fact remains he has a bit of a checkered past from his days as DeKalb CEO. I know a local Trump insider who was very active in Trump’s 2016 campaign, who still talks to Trump, who has warned Trump about this aspect of Vernon.

We’ll see, it will be interesting to watch.

It will also be interesting to see who the Dems put up. I don’t think it will be Abrams. She’s making too much money running her PAC.

Republicans have to learn that Democrats are PLAYING HARDBALL these days and they either have to join the ‘fun’ or get out of the way. And it is rough, as Governor Kemp learned when Harrison Deal was killed in a ‘traffic crash’ just as The Steal was becoming obvious to the country.

Kemp chose to ‘get the message’, rather than fight the Left, and so his time in high-level politics must come to an end.

I just don’t think a sort of checkered past in this race is going to matter if his most recent actions are far more supportive of conservative values and President Trump. Kemp wimped out on COVID measures and on the election. He has been eerily quiet as the dementia ridden fascist puppet looms more powerful. Having a checkered past with the Dems is a huge asset when it’s one of their candidates.

Public perception of Kemp is so negative, an endorsement from Trump would not look good for President Trump.

In fairness to Kemp, he did speak out against Biden’s totalitarian vaccine mandate, has threatened legal actions.

That’s not to downplay Kemp’s other shortcomings, which I fully recognize.

Meh. He’s had other opportunities to show real leadership. All he’s done is show Desantis is a strong Governor while he is a RINO lap dog. He’s not popular.

I can’t imagine who he thinks is going to vote for Kemp even if Jesus endorses him.

President Trump endorsing Kemp would be like endorsing your rapist. Vernon Jones is the only Trump-supporting candidate here.

I strongly suspect that if you checked kemp and raffensperger's off shore accounts, you'd find hefty deposits from the DNC. They should be in GITMO!

I WILL NOT VOTE FOR KEMP!

Trump’s endorsements have been awful. Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Ben Sasse, Bill Cassidy...

I’d like to know who is advising him about candidate endorsements.

I think many of Trump endorsements have been an attempt to build a bridge with the professional politician class. You’re right it has mostly failed ! He met them halfway they either reneged or didn’t even bother to try.

Hopefully he’s learned a thing or two about that now.
