NASA plans to launch the James Webb Space Telescope into orbit on December 18, 2021, to serve as the premier deep space observatory for the next decade.

When will they launch the Joe Biden telescope? The one that will face earth and watch the American heartland for terrorists...
Is that a full decade after the original date?
There. Fixed.
I thought this thing was already launched by now.

Isn’t that one whose Principle Investigator is some guy named Xi Jinping?
It and the CIA (and the other WOKE Deep State alphabet agencies) were so busy watching Americans that they neglected to keep an eye on the Taliban.
Very excited for this. I’ve been following this for longer than a decade.
Hopefully that when the telescope is launched its launched safely and once in its proper orbit works flawlessly.
There will be NO repair crews going out to service that telescope. Good luck to NASA and the United States of America.
With no disrespect towards that very brave lady, the headline deceives in that this is the 'bright' idea of about 3 NASA astronomers and multiple LGBT pressure groups. If you want a rather good Youtube video (12 minutes) on this kerfuffle, I can recommend "James Webb Telescope: The Holy Inquisition Also Strikes NASA" [Insane Curiosity - 21 August 2021].
They can call it Ham Sandwich for all I care I just want the darn thing to work as predicted.
It would be a shame if the Harriet Tubman telescope exploded on the pad. 10 years in todays pace is a thousand years when you only get a one time shot at it.
If anyone but SpaceX has their mitts in the works I would not place any bets on this thing making orbit.
Webb, an international program led by NASA with its partners ESA (European Space Agency) and the Canadian Space Agency, will launch on an Ariane 5 from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana on the northeastern coast of South America. ESA is providing the Ariane 5.
Re: "Orbit"
No Earth orbit.
It is going to a Sun-Earth Lagrange Point about 1 million miles from Earth.
It does technically orbit the Lagrange Point. Perhaps that is what you meant?
If this deployment turns out to be a disaster heads should roll...
I’ve been waiting so long and spending so much tax $$ i am praying for success.
This is the biggest biggy of all...
In stark contrast to bogus crap like the space station, this has the potential to actually advance the boundaries of scientific knowledge...
Maybe if someone like Elon had been in charge of this from the beginning, decades ago, it would not have taken so long...
